Ask it questions about your site
Start with the read-only preset, a ready-made set of permissions. Your assistant can look at products, categories, brands, articles, pages and visitor figures. It cannot change a thing. Ask for the ten products with the most clicks this month. Ask which articles have no meta description. Ask what your site health page warns about.

Let it edit the content
Make a new key with the preset "AI assistant: read, and edit content". Now the assistant can also create and edit products, categories, brands, articles and pages. Have it rewrite product titles and descriptions. Have it add products from a list of Amazon links. Have it write an article and schedule it for Friday. It can bring its own words, or ask the built-in writer. The writer draws on the AI Chips your plan includes.

You set the limits
Each key works on one site, so thirty sites means thirty keys. You choose read or write for each part of the site. Neither preset lets the assistant see your site's users and subscribers, change your settings or change your affiliate links. A preset key expires after 90 days. Revoke any key in one click and the tool loses access at once.

Set it up in four steps

Open the site's admin
Log in to the admin area of the site you want the assistant to work on. A key belongs to one site.

Create the key
Go to Settings, then API Keys, and click Create API Key. Give it a Key Name, such as Claude Code. In Preset, choose "AI assistant: read only".

Copy it once
The key shows one time, under "Copy your API key now". Copy it and keep it like a password.

Tell your assistant three things
Your site address, the key and the API reference. The setup guide has the words to paste. Ask a question before you ask for a change.
Questions before you connect
- Do I need my own AI account to use FreshStore?
- No. The AI writer and Ask Fresh are built in, on every plan. You need no ChatGPT account and nothing to set up. This page is for members who already use an assistant and want it to work on their site too.
- Can I connect the Claude or ChatGPT chat app?
- No. Those apps do not take a key like this. Claude Code, Codex, Cursor and automation tools such as n8n, Make and Zapier do.
- What can the assistant not touch?
- Your plan, your billing and your FreshStore account. A key reaches the content of one site. Whatever the assistant reads is sent to the company that makes the assistant. So the presets leave out your site's users and subscribers.
- Is this the same as an Amazon API key?
- No. This key is your site's own, and you make it yourself in your site settings. Amazon and eBay products still show on your site with no API keys to apply for.
