Member Story
Ingvar has been an affiliate marketer since AdSense first came out. He sold a portfolio of sites in 2017, and he runs a web and programming business. He came to FreshStore out of curiosity. Two years later he runs 110 stores on it.
Ingvar came to FreshStore out of curiosity:
"I liked the concept and basically wanted to try it out. I could see the potential though so here we are."
Two years later he runs 110 stores on it.
He still runs WordPress sites, and he picks the tool per project: "if FS doesn't fit a project I will use WP." FreshStore gets the product sites. Asked whether he would ever move them:
"Moving FS to where? The whole idea is to generate a profit. And grow it."
"Have products and count on SEs to index and rank them. That's it."
His best store's traffic is "pretty well even from Google/Bing". And the visitors go straight to the products:
"Over 75% of all clicks are to product pages/categories/articles. Nobody goes to a store and 'shops around'. Homepages are not visited much."
As a batch process, judged on numbers.
Build in batches. "Last batch of sites creation ended in June. 20% of them are showing signs of producing."
Measure, don't guess. He decides which stores to keep on "Pure stats." He pulls his reports from FreshStore and the Google Search Console and Bing APIs.
Cut and replace. "I have kept most, dropped a couple of bottom ones and replaced with a more viable niche. Based on traffic/revenues. I will do another purge in the new year."
Build on the winners. "I think I will look at the top niche and use keyword stats to create a sub-niche store."
Treat the portfolio as one business. "I also cross-link the sites so taking one out other sites lose that link. One might consider all sites 'The Business'." He keeps the linking light: "a bit of cross linking between stores help rankings", and "I also link from my wp sites and sometimes the other way. Not too many direct cross linkings."
He expects a portfolio to follow the 80/20 rule, and he plans for it: "Of the 110 sites, the 80/20 rule seems to apply. However, the newer sites are growing nicely." He is also clear that the stores need work: "it is definitely not a set up a store and $ will come in."
"Sure I can say I have 110 stores and as a portfolio they are profitable." Individual result, not typical. Earnings Disclaimer
Asked why he keeps doing it:
"I do this because I just love doing it."
The loop in three steps: pick a niche, the platform builds the store, the marketplace pays the commission.
